Bettina Summer Dream

Disclaimer : Following products that are reviewed where purchased by me.

So let me start by saying how sorry i'm for being away for so long ( again !! yes i know . ) I have been super busy apartment hunting and had a whole adventure doing that . Also i need your help. My cuticles look so bad :( i need new cuticle cream. I'm soooo tempted to get the Dior one since i have been hearing so many good things. So leave your suggestions in the comments.

So i stumbled ( again ) on the new Bettina collection for summer called "Summer Dream" .  I immediately gravitated towards Epic and Hopeful i will tell you why later. I have to say that i was a bit disappointed  in the previous collection( PICNIC )  formula wise but this collection made up for it . All of them are 2 coats plus 1 coat of Glisten & Glow top coat.

Ok so why did i run towards the previous mentioned shades ?  Well i was attracted to Dior Mango and Lime but missed them in stores then Macys online has them but their shipping is sucky to PR i need to ship to my sister in the states so she can then forward it to me in PR . But then this 2 shades are close enough for me so i'm happy .

Bettina Picnic

Today i have the new Picnic collection by Bettina.

For those that don't know Bettina is a brand from Puerto Rico and they have been in the market for close to 25 years. I try not to venture into the Bettina isle at Wal-mart because it can get crazy . Hold it let me show you what i mean.

See !!!!!!!! anyway back to the review. The formula was a bit of a pain in some and it shows in the application i added 4 drops of thinner to Pond and Butterfly and they applied smoothly. I do love the whole collection and they will make amazing undies for glitterbombs . Bettinas are $2.49-$2.99 depending on where you get them . Walgreens has  them 2 for $5 all the time. My must have from the collection are : Fruit Punch, Pond & Butterfly.

Lacquistry - Princess Frostine

So i still have some of my Lacquistry customs that i haven't shown you :p . While i was growing up me and my sister used to play Candy Land all the time . I even had a birthday themed around the game . So when the opportunity showed a few months back when Jenna was taking orders for customs i obviously used my childhood memories take charge.  My favortie character was Princess Frostine and oh my guess what ? .....  that is the name i choose for the polish.

Frostine is a white base polish with purple, green and pink glitters. Its beautiful <3 .

I was going to use it over a white polish but I wanted something different and i had an untried Bettina that i wanted to use.  Ok first of all why do pastels have to be soooo tricky to apply. I mean they look chalky but oh so pretty once you finish. I used Bettina Vanity as my base ( 2 coats) with 2 coats of Frostine . Slapped some Gelous and my Holy Grail top Coat ( HK GIRL By Glisten and Glow) and i have this whimsy , squishy and candy looking nails that i can't help to plan my next adventure in the pastel realm with Frostine.

Bettina "Sparkles"

Yesterday i posted this pic on my Facebook Page and a lot of you seem to like what they saw.

So today i have a full review .

This is Bettina Sparkles and is part of their "Let's Celebrate " collection. I only got this one because to be truthful the others didn't look that special to me .  The formula was easy to work with and i did apply 2 coats but now that i think of it you can get away with 1 coat if you apply a nice coat the first time. I like that you can actually see that shimmer form the bottle on the nail and i think it gives the color a little depth.

I also got a Cynthia Rowley polish from Marshalls that i wanted to try and its a beauty. I can't say i know the name because i can't find it anywhere in the bottle . I did 1 coat and then added Gelous to make everything smooth since its a combo of shards and round glitters . At the end i topped it off with 1 coat of my holy grail top coat HK Girl by Glisten & Glow.

Pretty right?

Bettina is available for purchase in Puerto Rico & select stores in the Florida area.

Lilac pastels and other random info

So for today i have a comparison between a few shades of lilac i have . It came to be because someone said on the Bettina giveaway comments that they wanted to see "haze" swatched . I went ahead and swatched it but also compared it to other lilac shades i have and i can say that i don't have a dupe for it the closest one that i have is China Glaze Sweet Hook but Bettina Haze has more purple in it .

On other topics i posted a pic of my new nail wheels on my Facebook page  and some of the girls so wanted the info so i thought i might as well posted here for those that don't follow me on FB .

Here is a pic of my wheels :

I have to say that these are wayyy more sturdy than even my Sally's Beauty nail wheels . I got them off ebay from this seller. He is from Hong Kong , but the it took only 2 weeks from when i ordered to when i got them . Price was $11.98 total for 3 packs of 10 nails each with 20 nail tips per wheel.

Because Not All Minty Shades Are Created Equal

So this came because i was having a conversation with a friend ....  he was looking at my polish racks and turns to me and said " why do you have so many of the same shade ? " hmmm they are not the same . So i decided to explain to him the subtle differences in similar shades . Here we have a comparison between a few minty shades.  I gave away my China Glaze Refresh Mint so i can't compare that one.

Essie Absolutely Shore( i was in a hurry writing and forgot an e on the name in the swatch )  is more of a powdery white green

Essie Turquoise & Caicos leans more dark with heavy green undertones.

Finally it came down to Bettina Orchidea & Essie Mint Candy Apple and looking at the bottles they seem as dupes . I have learned to never trust bottle comparisons . If we look at the picture below i would say they were the same but on closer inspection that was not true.

The main difference between the 2 shades are the tones . Bettina is more of a green-mint and essie is more of a blue-mint . I tend to use a coat of a white matte polish under pastel colors to make them pop more . So all of the swatches were with a coat of Revlon's Powder Puff . So there you have it my friend they may look the same but clearly they are not .

Bettina - Orchidea ( Orchid )

So since i was buying goodies for the wonderful Ashleigh from Nailbrite- a nail polish blog i stumble on a new Bettina display and just had to have this shade . It looks a lot lighter in the store so yeah go figure. Anyway for those that don't know Bettina is a local brand here in Puerto Rico. I think they are sold in Florida and trough special order trough their Facebook Page . Anyway if i remember the name of the display was "Flori" or something along those lines , sorry people i got distracted by the giant wall of Bettinas at the store.

Keep reading lovelies.............
